Buse,
Have a quick question for you. You are a great basketball expert but I need some baseball advice. I am a Lincecum owner…I have talked to my buddy in my league and he is willing to send me wainright for lincecum straight up. Am I crazy to be leaning towards making that move? I know that Lincecum could make me pay for this but Wainright seems like the more consistent, safe bet. I worry about Lincecum a lot. He is giving up hits, his control has been very poor at times, velocity is down..etc. I have a gut feeling that we may find out soon that something has been bothering the kid in his shoulder or something along those lines. I’m from the Chi so when I see great, young explosive arms struggle… Wood and Prior immiediately pop in my head. To make a comparison…Lincecum is that hot girl that may break your heart but is way too hot to break up with but you know that you should be with the other girl (Wainright) because it is a safer play and you won’t get hurt. That’s how I’m feelin…am I crazy?
not crazy at all. the only real drop-off there is strikeouts, ratios are similar even when lincecum is on, wainwright (and STL) arguably gives you a better shot at wins. i’d agree that wainwright is safer even if lincecum has the upside. if you’ve got question marks elsewhere, maybe it makes sense to go the safer route?
From here on out…you would go with Wainwright? Give it to me straight Buse…I value your opinion.
i have lincecum in the friends/family league and i can’t honestly say i’d deal him for wainwright right now, no
Another stinker for Lincecum…tonight it took place in Colorado. Kid gave up 9 hits, 4 walks, 4 earned over 6 innings. Boy, this song and dance is getting played out…what in the world is wrong with this guy? Not to mention he struck out 4 lousy batters. He has made me such a dissapointed owner I’m not going to trade him anymore for Wainwright… I’m going to drop him for Carl Pavano….maybe Freddy Garcia…
One more thing….who would you rather own the rest of the way?… Napoli or Santana?
probably santana, he’s looking really good
If you had a choice between Posey or Santana…who would it be? I know Posey just had a week that that may have put him ahead. Taking that week away, who would you guess will have a better 2nd half?
i take it your league isn’t very active when it comes to free agents
sheesh it’s a coin-flip. i’d roster them both, play posey at home and santana otherwise
Haha….this league is like taking candy from a baby. This is my league with my boss, colleagues, and even our UPS driver. Believe it or not, it’s the UPS driver that I’m chasing. All these guys put in a bunch of money and then slowly dissapear by mid may, early June. The waiver wire is a beautiful thing in this league. These guys don’t even know who Posey or Santana are. Anyways, I moved Napoli and actually had my choice between the 2. It’s a tough decision. On one of my teams I actually own both of them. I know posey exploded before the break, but I really feel like it’s Santana’s turn now. I had to make a choice and I went with Santana. I hope Posey comes out of the break ice cold just so I feel better about my decision. By the way, great job on the Basketball Big Board. I thought you did a real solid job. Look forward to the future court reports. Talk to you soon man.
