Very Early Consensus Top 25 for 2009-10 – Submit Yours

The Consensus Keeper Rankings have generated quite a bit of excellent discussion, and it also seems like a good time to get an early glimpse as to how the majority feels about the top 25 for re-draft leagues heading in to next season. I’m soliciting any and all of you to send me your current top 25 for next season – I’ll compile them all as they come in and post the results in a few days, depending on the response.

Assume 9-category h2h as the settings, and anybody that is feeling frisky can send along their roto top 25, as well. Please just type your numbered list(s) in an email – no attachments (excel, word, etc). I’ll post both of mine when the consensus ranks go up and join in the ensuing discussion. And while there’s no need to overthink it at this juncture, be sure to put some thought into it so that everyone can benefit.

Your recently-completed Yahoo! league, Basketball Monster, and Rotoworld are good places to go for some help putting your list together. Click here when you are ready to submit.

now that my boys are officially out of the picture, I’m backing the LeBroners for the crown. There is 1 main reason for this. If healthy, I reackon the C’s have 1, maybe 2 at a stretch, title runs left in them but a hungry LeBron makes another C’s title that much more difficult. So I’m hoping that a ring this year will dial down LeBron’s hunger/intensity a notch next year. Then, with an extended summer’s rest, the big 3 will be back more or less the same, along with an All-Star Rondo, a 12-10-2blks Perk, a productive Baby off the bench, and hopefully a little more athleticism obtained thru free agency. Heart of a champion!!!

So you’re asking for our own personal top 25 keeper rankings or rankings for a non-keeper league? And what address should I email them to?

  5. Ashley says:

Just what the Clippers need, another big man..

Can you think of better mentors than Baron, Randolph, and Thornton? I can’t.. Griffin must be ecstatic.

    • mbuser says:

what a mess. i was pulling for memphis among the final three, as the clips are the clips and bennett didn’t deserve it. if OKC had gotten #1, i would have led the conspiracy theory charges

  6. b_rad82 says:

the clippers getting the first pick means blake griffin will be a bust.

    • dasein says:

Yep, Griffin to Clips is prob worse situation possible. And Rubio to Memphis casts some doubt on Conleys continued emergence. Can see a return to the Grizzlies PG timeshare, baring a trade. At least Rubio will have his buddy Gasol there.
This lottery hasnt done fantasy owners any favours, thats for sure.

      • Ashley says:

Rubio isn’t a sure thing at #2. They could easily take Thabeet.. That’s the thing that annoys me about NBA teams. They don’t draft based on need, they draft best available. The Kings would’ve taken Griffin even though they don’t need him. Now the Clippers will take him even though they already have a log-jam at PF/C.

Conley’s job isn’t in jeopardy, I don’t see them taking Rubio. I don’t think he’ll even be NBA-ready next season..

        • dasein says:

I think Rubio will be fine. He was plenty ready in the olympics. But thinking about it, I cant see the Memphis Cheapskates wanting to contribute to his 8mill buyout. If im Donnie Walsh, Im gonna be all over that. I can see D’antoni loving Rubio.

          • Ashley says:

olympics and nba are completely different styles though

            • mbuser says:

true but he’s got skills that absolutely translate. his court vision and passing skills are at another level, and he’s still so young

as for memphis, they have a gaping hole at PF, so figures they will be looking at a PG and C. to me, trading the pick makes the most sense, whether down for a better fit and some depth or in a blockbuster (bosh?)

          • b_rad82 says:

NBA teams are only allowed to contribute $500K toward the buyout, Rubio has to cover the rest. I don’t think that will be a determining factor for any team. This ain’t Daisuke Matsuzaka.

        • b_rad82 says:

I think Rubio is pretty damn NBA ready right now, but Thabeet feels like a Memphis pick, I could see that. The perfect situation for Rubio (and the Kings) would be falling to number 4. If the Griz believe in Conley and the Thunder believe in Westbrook . . . nah, still pretty unlikely, although maybe a trade between Sac and the Griz. . . .

          It’ll be interesting.

          • Ashley says:

I’m not saying Rubio will be bad. I’m sure he’ll be like Nash someday. But he has a lot to learn and is still really young so I don’t expect him to be a big contributor his rookie season.

If Conley had sucked after they traded away Lowry, then sure, I could see them taking Rubio. But I think Conley averaged over 14/5/5 down the stretch, so there’s no reason to be looking for a new franchise PG.

    • Ashley says:

I don’t like him. He can dunk, big deal. He can’t handle the ball. No jump shot. Can’t make FTs. But I guess we’ll see.

  7. Ashley says:

I want to see Nuggets vs. Cavs… Melo vs. Lebron..

The Lakers are lame, they don’t even care. So I’d rather not see them give 50% in the Finals for a 2nd straight year.

    • dasein says:

I’m also rooting for the Nuggs here. Would like to see all those Kobe vs Lebron commercials fall flat. I think either way BronBron gets ring no.1 this year, but the finals will be much more interesting if its against the Nuggs.

      • Ashley says:

I think Lebron would be a little scared if it was against the Nuggets.. They could easily beat the Cavs. And Lebron personally would be really upset if Melo got a ring before he did. Melo was the forgotten one out of the Lebron/Wade/Melo, and if he came out of nowhere and won a championship before Lebron… That would hurt.

    • mbuser says:

pretty good story-lines for the NBA either way, but i also want to see the cavs against the nuggets

  8. So-Tex Spurs says:

Let’s see, going back to 1998 (when they had their last No. 1 overall), the Clips have had 11 lottery picks total. Now, I know they’ve made a few deals here and there with/for some of those picks – but come on! In ten years, they’ve managed to practically draft a complete lottery team – and they STILL can’t get out of the gutter?!?

Man, I miss the mid-nineties – when people used to talk about the Clips as actually HAVING the potential to make noise – in the playoffs no less! They were always just one draft pick or star away from taking the next step.

Of course, I blame management on this one – or lack thereof.

Oh, well…Hey Blake, see you after 2012. ;)

  9. Problem Gasolved says:

Im calling it now…Blake Griffin will be less productive than Oden. I think one of the few guys to actually make some noise will be Thabeet depending on what team he goes to. If the thunder get him…i can only imagine how good that team will be in 3 years.

  10. jboldt73 says:

Is it me or does this look like the draft of 2000 when Kenyon Martin was #1? looking at the field there were servicable players but no studs. Jamal Crawford was probably the best of the lot.

  11. redmurph says:

It’s comparable in that neither draft has(d) a large group of elite players, but this pool has a lot of question marks, a lot of guys who probably only declared BECAUSE the field is so weak.

I’d take Turkoglu and Mike Redd over Crawford.

  12. mbuser says:

we’ve got an even dozen responses for h2h so far, so thanks for that. not too many for roto at this point, though

i’m going to compile a lottery/mock draft post here shortly to give us some more info and room for discussion. things change a ton between the first and the last mocks, but it’s still a useful exercise to start looking at more players in-depth and examine the early prognostications
