since there are only so many people still competing in fantasy leagues, i figured that i would skip my general pickups and injury updates and leave the floor open for more specific inquiries

    Hey Matt,

The next week is about to start, what should I do with Murphy? I personally believe that I should wait and find out how serious it is, but then again how much longer can I wait. I am hoping they will give an expected time by today.

Good thing I kept Marion, he had a great game last week, and an easy schedule coming up to finish the year off

  3. actuarylarry says:

    Matt,

First time commenter here, long-time reader though. Like the site a lot.

So, I can’t decide if I am getting too cute with my reasoning here, but with S-Jax and Brandan Wright out, are Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow worth plays next week over the likes of Wilson Chandler, Emeka Okafor or J.R. Smith? The Warriors are looking at 4 games, with two against the Kings and one at home with the Grizzlies. I am currently starting only two three-game starters in Lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy and they are probably staying put. Based on the last few weeks, I am leaning towards yanking Okafor (who has a rough 4 games with Boston, Lakers, etc.) for Randolph.

    Thanks for the thoughts, Matt.

    • boxjohnson says:

A rare shot for Randolph to improve your FT%! That’s like eating butter sandwiches because mayo and bacon was getting a little heavy. Don’t let BOS and LAL on Okafor’s schedule intimidate you; his splits against both teams are great. I can’t see Randolph giving you much more, or different, than Emeka. I’d say J.R. might be your most expendable, depending on how much you need his scoring.

      • rustygriswald says:

Dick in the Box, you are a legend. I love your hijinx on the boards.

I think he should drop JR for Morrow. I’m pretty high on him at the moment… among other things.

        • mbuser says:

denver has a great schedule (NYK, UTH, LAC, @MIN), so i’m not sure you are going to get more from morrow than smith. of course, it’s close. drugs are bad, mmkay?

larry i don’t think you are getting too cute, i’d just suggest a different angle with your reasoning. think about the add/drop impact on your whole team instead of the ‘get a bit more of the same from one guy versus another’. dropping smith for randolph will change the dynamic of your team dramatically, while dropping smith for morrow is almost an even swap. look at your opponent for the week and see if losing some threes for some boards and blocks makes sense

  4. fantasystud says:

I’m in a no-bench daily H2H league and I was wondering if I should stream Delonte West or not. I am planning on streaming two other slots already and there is no max roster moves so I could efficiently stream 3 slots. Also, is it worth it at any point to pick up and hold onto someone like Jeff Green, Duhon, OJ Mayo, etc. who are out there on the waivers/FA list or should I just stream the slot anyways. Thanks

    • boxjohnson says:

How many players are on your roster? Streaming three spots seems excessive.

      • fantasystud says:

Only 9 and there’s no bench so it’s pretty easy to find quality players to stream. Pretty sure I am going to stream 3 spots, since there is no restriction in place. I just don’t know where to draw the line in terms of keeping a good player for 3-4 games as opposed to streaming for 7 days with decent/good players. Where do I stop? Top 50 players? 75?

        • boxjohnson says:

Seems like a five dollar foot long, you’ll fill up a lot but might regret not going for something more quality pretty quickly. Streaming makes it harder to establish a team identity unless you’re targeting the right guys with the right schedule. Trying to just pile up stats for the sake of it isn’t a H2H playoff strategy, that’s roto.

If your opponent is streaming, it’s fairly cut and dry. I’m not a fan of these “Cold War” style arms races, but you have to beat them at their own game. Go to basketball monster, plug in your opponents roster, and see where they’re competitive. From what I understand, if they’re a negative 2, 3 or lower in a category, you stand a sound chance of winning it with an average squad. Look for cats they’re close to even in and stream players with relative strength there. Have the serenity to accept the categories you cannot win, the courage to stream players who can change the close ones and the wisdom to not pick up Gilbert Arenas.

If you are the only one streaming (that’s what she said) then select a few solid players that will get you specific, tangible gains. I mentioned this before, but Thabo is a great add because you know he’ll get you the bump in steals and blocks, which are easily quantifiable. Then ‘Cisco Garcia might be available later in the week, another opportunity to get blocks from a guard slot. You’re then developing a solid, manageable strategy. I look at threes, steals, blocks and turnovers (if used) as cats to stream for.

Ultimately, there isn’t a magic number or rating. Playoffs are a test of your managing ability, so do the research and figure out how to get yourself a 5-4 win instead of just grabbing names off the wire and hoping you’ll win by having the biggest number. He who dies with the most toys does not always win.

  5. boxjohnson says:

With the Pistons getting healthy, have I gotten the most out of McDyess? Should I pick up Big Z for his four game sched? He’s got some rough games (DAL, DET, @ORL) and Hawes is on the wire as well. Other notables include Arenas and Foster.

    • rustygriswald says:

I like Hawes, Box. He’s got a sweet schedule this week and I bet Detroit looks to get Sheed back in the swing.

      • boxjohnson says:

I’d love Foster if his schedule wasn’t worse than CBS primetime. Maybe I’ll stream Dice’s spot and try some Hawes. I’m worried that with Nocioni back and having a hell of a game so far tonight, touches aren’t going to be there for him. Z’s numbers aren’t really sexy and this is my weird Oreb/TO/Tech 11 cat league.
My likely opponent next week just picked up Gasol, which confuses me because he’s not competitive in boards. Got me wondering if something is up his sleeve.
For anyone still holding on to McDyess, he’s avging 8 and 8.5 on no more than 8fga since Rip returned. Sheed is back on Tuesday. Thank the kind man for the nice ride he took you for and move on!

  6. chasedodge says:

I see that Foye missed today’s game with a hip injury, and Mike Miller did very well filling in for him. I was about to drop Miller since he has done nothing lately, but I think I will hold onto him now in hopes of Foye missing a few more games.

My league has a 4 move per week maximum.

These are the moves I am considering for this week.

Drop Jared Dudley for Kyle Korver
Drop Aaron Afflalo for Andres Nocioni
Drop Kirk Hinrich for Hilton Armstrong
Drop Will Bynum for Anderson Varejao

I am considering Dropping Andray Blatche instead on Bynum, but I think I will stay with Bynum as Rip is back and AI is due back on Tuesday. Is there anyone else I should be considering? Other people of note who are available include Anthony Parker, Rudy Fernandez, Courtney Lee, Shane Battier, Mike Taylor, Anthony Randolph, Anthony Morrow, Julian Wright, Keyon Dooling, and Aaron Brooks. I’m mostly trying to pick up people that will play a lot this week and put up numbers, the only category I could use a little help in is 3-pointers.

    • rustygriswald says:

Get Morrow pronto if you need 3′s. He leads the league in 3pt % and he is going to be chucking like crazy with a lot of minutes from here out IMO.

      • chasedodge says:

I agree, but I would only get to start Morrow three times where as all of these guys will go 4 times for me, so I guess the question is will three of Morrow starts be more productive than 4 for one of these players. Maybe I will pick up Morrow instead of Varejao, I don’t really know if I need that many big man stats.

        • rustygriswald says:

Why only 3 games. W’s have 4 games this coming week, otherwise I think Varejao helps across the board more, but not in 3′s obviously.

        • boxjohnson says:

Definitely drop Hinrich. Now. Rudy would seem like a great option for threes (he was top 5 for a while this season) but his match ups are awful. OKC, HOU and UTH all defend the long ball well. Why not pickup Morrow through Friday and then Parker for his back to back with the Knicks (Sat, Sun)?
I like the Affalo for Noc drop, he looks like a solid play for the week. Armstrong might be a nice add considering how weak the interior defense of all four of those squads are.
I see Bynum in a very Doolingesque situation. Like the Beastie Boys said… “and ddddddddddddddrop!”

    • mbuser says:

i like who you’ve selected as drops and would add morrow, randolph, nocioni, and either varejao or parker

      • rustygriswald says:

This is an exercise in retro-activity in regards to your post Buse, but Ashton Korver is looking to shine celestially in the holy land more than ever after Drago’s new hangnail. Sloan has him on the court in crunch time constantly and he has been first off the bench even with AK available.

He’s in line for numbers that will emotionally bring you past the level of joy you felt when you sold your mom’s “Bread” records from under her nose during the liberating garage sale of ’89.

  7. rustygriswald says:

Hey gang, quick question. I’m getting back in action this week, and have an open spot for streaming now that Camby did us all a favor. In anticipation of Monday’s slow evening I picked up Ryan Anderson. I’ve been thinking about being kind of sneaky though. Our pool is pretty well nuked at this point, and I’m wondering if Darrel Arthur may have a better day. I like the move doubly because after holding Anderson for a couple days (I’m on a bye) he won’t be available to pick up and the pool gets even more shallow. Any thoughts, Darko is out there too.

Oh, yeah and Memphis plays Golden State.

    • rustygriswald says:

If you reply to this know that the mid level dogs are gone, the bratwursts are being Charmined, and the I’m looking for some unlikely big games.

      These are the matchups:

UTAH v KNICKS Maybe Harpring plays a lot if the Jazz blow them out
      MEM V GSW
ORL v MIA Pietrus is available but I don’t trust him
      NJN v MIL

      Thanks in advance.

      • chasedodge says:

Maybe Yi Jianlian could have a big day. Bobby Simmons missed Sunday’s game with a injury and Jarvis Hayes was gone too, if they both don’t play again tomorrow Yi will get some more minutes. He is also playing against Milwaukee his former team, so maybe that will give him some extra incentive to show up

        • no1gandolf says:

“Jarvis Hayes was gone too.” And so is my season, sad to say. I tuned in to Stattracker, and saw that Hayes, whom I had picked up the day before, had a DNP. Checked it out and found out that he had the temerity to desert my fantasy team to be with his wife when she gave birth. How dare he desert my team when I was in need! Earlier in the week, Garnett had a DNP, and was shut down, at least temporarily. I wound up losing 5-4; the deciding category was points, and I lost by two, with Shaq (my opponent seemed to have half of the Suns team last week, and of course they played five games.)scoring the decisive two points in the last minute or two of the game. So now I end the season with a scintillating match for 5th place. And all I would have needed from Hayes was one lousy three point play!

Just thought I would vent. And no, I won’t send hate mail to Jarvis. He is likely one of the minority of players in the NBA who would do the right thing.

      • chasedodge says:

        Hakim Warrick

        • rustygriswald says:

Nice call on both of those but they are gone unfortunately. I definitely would go Warrick over the others if he was available.

          • boxjohnson says:

Any notable FA’s other than Harpring, Darko, Arthur or Pietrus? Deep leagues are so hard to help with. What are you looking for from a pickup? 15 minutes of playing time?

            • rustygriswald says:

Those are the highlights as far as I can see. I’d prefer an uber-productive 20 minute fluke if you see it out there. I would like tons of Jazz for that Knicks game, but Miles, Korver, AK and Milsap are gone. So there;s the aforementioned four horsemen, and maybe a CD Roberts option.

My league was fairly deep to begin with, and miraculously we’re seeing streaming from the leagues nether regions as the burden of beer falls hard on 14th place.

I think I’m most likely riding the Anderson train and we’ll see where that leads me. I actually have a whole seat here, but I’ll only need the edge.

              • boxjohnson says:

I like Dallas’ schedule next week, is Hollins or Singleton available? Keep an eye on what’s going on there, they’ve both put up great (but sporadic) numbers as reserves. You’ll get a back to back tues/wed as well.

  8. the.end.of.game.hero says:

Just a question as to who to start. (h2h league)

    My roster is:
    C. Billups
    D. Wade
    L. James
    L. Odom
    N. Hilario
    R. Turiaf
    N. Robinson
    A. Kirilenko
    B. Diaw
    Ty. Thomas
    R. Lewis
    R. Hamilton

Who should start and who is droppable at this point???

    • Problem Gasolved says:

ty thomas only has two games next week and kirilenko hasnt done much since his return from injury.

      • rustygriswald says:

… but Kirilenko will probably see more minutes this week. Through 5 games he’s bound to have at least 2 with extra PT. Also, (and I agree TT could go with this short week) he could come back to haunt you with 5 games next week (and a half). You should post your needs and the hot free agents available for better advice hero. Gasolved is an oracle (with poor taste in NBA teams).

    • boxjohnson says:

From the 15 worst schedules next week, you have one player. Consider yourself golden with the exception of TT.

  9. hegotgame says:

Mr. Buser — big thanks for the Brandon Rush tip. Awesome.

  10. Black Bandana says:

It’s second round PO already. I had a bye in the first round. Should I still hold on to Biedrins and wait for any news until wednesday? Or I should pick someone else to play somebody for monday to wed?

  11. championvenom says:

Hey, so I was officially eliminated tonight by 1 assist (while I watch David West fail me live on ESPN). But I’m in a 3 player keeper league and I’m keeping Gilbert Arenas, Pau Gasol, and then I have to decide on a third. My main 2 choices are Troy Murphy, who had a monster season but I’m not sure he ever will again, or Elton Brand, who had a terrible season and I’m not sure will ever be this bad again. Any thoughts on who to keep?

A couple other fringe guys I considered include Gerald Wallace, Jason Terry, and Caron Butler.

    • boxjohnson says:

Why Gilbert? Even when he was good (three seasons ago) he was still turning the ball over at an insane rate and shooting in the bottom 40′s. I understand wanting to keep a guard, but Butler/Gasol/Brand would be my play. I’d even keep Wallace over Arenas. He’s officially reached a Pacino level for me; I’m not going to acknowledge he’s good again until he shows me. I think your read on Murphy is spot on.

      • championvenom says:

I’m planning to go with Gilbert more because I’m just lacking another really good option. I figure he’s a huge boost in at least 5 categories (pts, assists, FT%, 3s, and steals). Plus he was a decent rebounder for a PG. And yeah he kills FG% but I’m hoping Pau helps balance that out and if I have Brand he would too I think.

My issue with Butler is obviously injuries (which I have the same issue with Gilbert). But I figured his numbers will be down a little bit with Gil playing next year. Plus, I don’t feel he lived up to where I picked him this season so I’m a little bitter with him still.

But if healthy, which I know is a huge IF, I kinda think Gilbert will be more helpful. Brand on the other hand still really concerns me, even when healthy this year he was painful to watch. I’m always up for other thoughts though, thanks!

    • mbuser says:

any chance your league allows off-season trading?

    • hyde says:

      gilbert wallace murphy

      do it!

  12. Problem Gasolved says:

the clever comments from both boxjohnson and rustygriswald have tickled me in a place that hasnt seen action in well over…(damn my own hand just messed up where i was going with this)

After a 2-5 minute break….Pau Gasol is the man…i think mcdyess still has some good games in him and i am blessed by the fantasy gods in that i am blessed with both deron williams and okur but that the team im playing has ty thomas, joke-im Noah, and Josh Smith. Which is why i picked up Kenyon Martin and Jason Thompson. In a 10 man 6 category league is it weird that i own chris paul, deron, and calderon? some idiot dropped my spanish buddy because he was throwing out assists. Awesome! dont need to worry about any other guards now

  13. agtheog7 says:

I need help. I have B. Rush but am strongly thinkin bout droppin him for Morrow. I will only get 3 games out of Morrow, Rush has 3 games as well. Wut should i do? I got 1 more move left btw…

    • mbuser says:

i think you stay with rush in that situation – similar offense, but rush has the chance at a more robust overall line

      • agtheog7 says:

thx matt. wut i ended up doin was droppin w.bynum for morrow, and big baby for a.randolph. I kept rush afterall. i was mistaken, now im left with 2 moves. the other guy dropped francisco garcia 2day, is he worth adding for the rest of the playoffs once he clears waivers??? my roster is composed of:
        tony parker
        deron williams
        nate robinson
        vince carter
        brandon rush
        yao
        varejao
        brook lopez
        morrow
        a.randolph
I am solid in pts, percentages, ast. Iffy on rebs, 3s. Who would be the best guy 2 drop for garcia?

        thx…

  14. ferewuz says:

Murphy probable to return by season’s end, so I think i will drop him today :( And there goes my third center this year (Amare, Camby)

  15. Doc Oc says:

I’m in the playoffs semi-finals in my H2H league… is it time to dump gimpy and/or shut down KG for Francisco Garcia?

  16. boxjohnson says:

Who is “gimpy”? I thought Daniel Gibson had a rough nickname.

KG’s two game schedule isn’t getting you to the finals and you’d have ‘cisco for three games against two of the best teams to start guards against(check easy rankings for PHO/GSW). He looked comfortable as a sixth man last night, but who knows how that plays out over this stretch. I’d say yes… tentatively.

  17. chisox222 says:

Hey, I have a couple roster moves I am considering and there is couple decent FAs out there I am considering the following moves

    D.West For Iverson
    Hughes for A. Randolph

i also have dalembert who is hurting what should I do??

  18. Bustin says:

Hey, love the site :] So I made it into the semi-finals in a pretty deep h2h league. Default settings except for Turnover/Assist ratio instead of just turnovers. My current rosters is:

    1) LeBron James
    2) Pau Gasol
    3) Jose Calderon
    4) Ron Artest
    5) Andre Miller
    6) Al Harrington
    7) Anthony Parker
    8) Matt Barnes
    9) Luis Scola
    10) Rudy Fernandez
    11) Derek Fisher
    12) Nate Robinson

Do you think I should consider dropping some of the guys that don’t have the best schedules this week? In particular I’m lookin at Anthony Parker, Matt Barnes, Luis Scola, and Rudy Fernandez, even though a couple of them have been pretty solid in how they’ve worked with my team this year. I’m mostly looking for other guard-type players, as I focus on the Assist, A/T, STL and 3Pt categories, although the only ones I really ‘punt’ are FG% and Blck.

Some available guys are: mike miller, james posey, stojakovic, roger mason, jamario moon, even kyle korver maybe? Or someone like Courney Lee or DJ Augustin? Thanks for any thoughts :D

    • mbuser says:

i’d think derek fisher would be the guy to drop – his AST:TO is nice, but he’s so low volume that the impact is small and he’s doing little anywhere else. what about c.lee for wed, korver for thu-fri, and m.miller for sun?

  19. chisox222 says:

    heres my roster buse..
    1. Chauncey Billups
    2.Eric Gordon
    3. Vince Carter
    4. Larry Hughes
    5. Lamar Odom
    6. Antawn Jamision
    7. Sam Dalembert
    8. Luis Scola
    9. Ramon Sessions
    10. Anthony Morrow
    11. Tayshaun Prince
    12. Delonte West
    13. Kobe Bryant
    14. Antonio McDyess
    15. Spencer Hawes

ridnour, anthony randolph, brandon rush and iverson are some of the guys available. whats your recommendations?

  20. noelg says:

I’m thinking of dropping Brad Miller after tomorrow night’s game because he only plays 2 games this week. I’m in an h2h playoff matchup. Do you think this is a good move?

Brandon Rush, Blatche, Morrow, Randolph, Hughes are all on the wire.

Right now I have the following team:

    Deron Williams
    Kevin Martin
    Joe Johnson
    Andre Iguodala
    David Lee
    Spencer Hawes
    Marc Gasol
    Anderson Varaejeo
    Chris Andersen
    Jason Terry
    Eric Gordon
    Russell Westbrook
    Brad Miller

    What does everyone think?

    • mbuser says:

dropping miller for randolph would get you two extra games (3 vs 1) so it certainly makes sense in that respect. if you make the championship round, andersen is a guy you’ll want to think about replacing, as he only has 4 games in the final round (most teams have 5 or 6)

  21. timbo says:

hey guys, i was hoping that ak would be worthwhile during this 5 game week but only 9mins today leaves me worried…. should i burn my no 1 waiver on anthony randolph for the rest of the week (3 more games) or stick with AK for his 4 more games?? i could hold off till tomoro to see how AK goes then but then i may miss out on getting randolph…

  22. boxjohnson says:

Ugh, Ellis just left the game. With all of his leg/ankle issues, this could be a couple games. Upgrade Morrow and Randolph again…

  23. holden says:

so who’s dropped troy murphy? i’m still debating whether to hold out a little bit longer for better updates.

    • agtheog7 says:

i hope u havent dropped troy murphy! he went for 15pts,12reb, 1 3ptm, 1 stl in 36 min played. Not bad for his 1st game back… some guy dropped him in my league on fri, i saw he was playing when i peeked at the box score in the 1st qtr 2day and swooped him up with no hesitation… obviously if he isnt fully recovered, he wont be a good option, but for now play it out and keep tabs on him. i dont c the pacers shuttin him down since they didnt do that 2 granger…

      • holden says:

yah, luckily i kept him. i wanted to keep him around to see if there would be better updates in the following days. turns out he played today. now hopefully he remains in the lineup for good.

  24. jasonbourne says:

Help! It’s only my second season and I got a good chance to make it to the championship next week, but all my players aren’t ready and it’s a deep league and slim pickings. My team is:
    Kobe Bryant
    Dirk Nowitzki
    David West
    Jason Terry
    Lamar Odom
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Kyle Korver
    Ronny Turiaf
    Brook Lopez
    Eric Gordon
    Jamal Crawford
    Chris Duhon
    Kevin Garnett
    Delonte West

I have three cats locked up, but need to get three cats out of the following five — PTS, FTM, AST, REB, 3PT% in a eleven cat league. The guys in question are Delonte, KG, Duhon and Jamal Crawford. I’m leaning towards:
    Drop Delonte for Barbosa AND
Drop KG for one of the guys below (But it’s a good chance I need KG for the championship week because Noc doesn’t help me as much against the favorite. If the pickings were better I would do it.)

Is there anyone out of the following worth dropping for 65 – 75% KG for the last week-and-a-half?

Andres Nocioni, Beno Udrih, DJ Augustin, Jeff Foster, Kurt Thomas, James Singleton, Brandon Bass, Dominic McGuire, Darius Songalia, DeAndre Jordan

    • hyde says:

      keep delonte

      drop kg for barbosa

    • los_macheteros says:

Leandro coming off the bench with limited minutes (at least for a few games) has less potential than Delonte getting his regular. With shut-down potential up-and-down Phoenix’s front five, sure there may be a chance Leandro takes a heavy dose of shots towards the end… if he gets healthy. Delonte however, is sure to drain some of LeBrons shots even if he isn’t limited.

You should drop KG for Nocioni immediately. He seems like he’s trying to light a fire under his team and maybe develop some form of chemistry. Swapping Duhon for Udrih may also be wise. I see him having a few more strong games than Duhon the rest of the way.

Foster might also be worth a look, but as the Pacers have crept away from contention they may look to give Roy Hibbert as much run as he can handle (which isn’t much).

      • mbuser says:

i’d drop KG for nocioni and either duhon or delonte for udrih – that should be a nice boost the rest of the week, as SAC gets to play GSW, PHO, GSW

        • jasonbourne says:

Thanks for all the input guys. You made me look at Leandro differently. It’s easy to be swayed by someone who is hot (before injury), kinda like a chick with a killer bod in a hot minidress who gives you a neck ache for turning your head so fast.

I dropped KG for Noc immediately and decided to go with Udrih for Delonte. I liked Delonte during the season, but right now while he’s playing solid D, something is off with his offensive game. I didn’t know whether it was his health (back/wrist), deferring to Mo Williams, LeBron, others, or playing PG more. I went with the easier Kings schedule and Udrih heating up again. Duhon’s not completely back to where he was early in the season, but he helps in multiple cats that’s easy to overlook.

All of my remaining opponents have fantasy trophies in their trophy case while mine’s is bare. I’m *hungry* for a championship.

KG’s a fave player of mine because of his fire and competiteness, so here’s something I made up for him just now.

Jeff Foster dilemma. H2H daily league. I could use his rebounding on Friday and Sunday but I’m afraid it might be too late by then. Should I drop him and stream the slot? If so, which of these guys will get me the best overall line tomorrow:

    J.Crittenton
    S.Novak
    D.Jordan
    K.Dooling
    J.Maxiell
    J.Jones
    J.Boone
    F.Jones

    • los_macheteros says:

Of the bunch I see Maxiell as the only one capable of actually giving you a line. He can definitely ball. Avoid Crittenton, he will be matched against CP3 in his very limited minutes. The rest of them are just toss-ups.

      • capoltorta says:

So you think dropping Foster is a good idea? I was considering Maxiell, but with Sheed returning, and McDyess, Kwame, and Amir, it doesn’t seem like Max will get too many minutes. Any buzz on Deandre Jordan? He was a monster as a starter, and with Camby gone, what’s the outlook? I don’t think Crittenton will be as bad as you think tomorrow, he’s got tons of talent. Anyone else?

    • mbuser says:

i’d hold on to him if that’s the best of the bunch

      • capoltorta says:

really? i’d only be getting 2 games out of foster though, opposed to 5 games streaming the rest of the week. those guys would only be for tomorrow, there are better options for thursday on. foster will probly get about 24 rebounds and 4 blocks in two games right, i could piece together 5 games to outproduce that i think. who do you like the most out of that group?

        • mbuser says:

yeah i kinda glossed over the streaming aspect. i guess it’d come down to crittenton vs MEM (arenas will likely play in that game), jordan vs NOR (i wouldn’t count on more than 20 minutes), or maxiell vs NJ (6/5/1-ish)

          • capoltorta says:

and just like that, foster has a tweaked ankle, and murphy returns. thanks for the zeros o’brien. i’m gonna go with crit, i wouldn’t be surprised if him and arenas are on the floor at the same time. i know i’m gonna miss out on 3 blocks from DJ tho. thanks again!

  26. Daniel D. says:

    I’m .5 points out of 1st in a roto league and I’m in a 3-way tie at .466 in FG%…

What 2 or 3 guys would you recommend for a late boost in FG%? And is Garnett worth holding onto under these circumstances?

  27. craptor says:

Just looking for comments/opinions on whether Biedrins and Baron Davis should be dropped now and, if so, what the perception of Mike Taylor is taking Davis’ spot. I know Collins was the beneficiary earlier in the year, but Taylor’s been on fire lately. Worth the pick-up yet?

  28. garexbo22 says:

I’m in the semis right now trailing 6-3, every category very competitive. AK47, Gomes, Blake(avail 4-3), Kmart(avail 4-3), Lee, Udrih(avail 4-3), McGuire, Augustin available. I was thinking of adding AK47 since he has 3 games left and dropping Salmons considering he’s injured and only has 1 game left this week. But hesitant just in case I make it to the finals.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Please help Mr. Buser, here’s my team:

    Delonte West
    Jason Terry
    Chauncey Billups
    Francisco Garcia
    Antonio McDyess
    Mike Miller
    Pau Gasol
    Chris Andersen
    Jarrett Jack
    John Salmons
    Hedo Turkoglu
    Dwyane Wade

    • mbuser says:

i know you said every cat is very competitive, but which ones make the most sense to pursue and which make the most sense to ignore? remember, you just need to win 5-4 to advance

      • garexbo22 says:

I can win steals, 3′s, free throw %, field goal %, turnovers, and I’m trailing by 10 pts. Thanks for your input, I’ll make my decision after today’s games, I’ll see where I stand and make a decision on Salmons. Is Kirilenko’s production gonna continue to drop or do you see it improving over the next couple of weeks? Is he gonna get more playing time?

        • mbuser says:

there’s little reason to expect AK’s production to spike or decline significantly – he is what he is these days. with that said, your best plan of action will probably be the quantity approach – as in, grab AK for thu/fri (@DEN, MIN) and then kmart for sat/sun (LAC, @MIN). you could also swap out martin for udrih for sun (GSW) if the situation allows. those are pretty good matchups all around

marreese speights could emerge with some value, depending on the results of thaddeus young’s MRI

    How is John Salmons looking?

    I’m eyeing Kirk Hinrich

whats the standard tie breaking method in yahoo leagues? i cant seem to find it on the page.

    • mbuser says:

help -> winning the game -> how are ties broken
      http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/basketball/winning/hoops-44.html

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock is broken using the following system:

      1. Most team points scored.
      2. Most team rebounds.
      3. Highest team field goal percentage.
      4. Highest team free throw percentage.
      5. Fewest team turnovers.
      6. Most team 3-point shots made.
      7. Most team assists.
      8. Most team steals.
      9. Most team blocked shots.
      10. Random “coin flip.”

      • Problem Gasolved says:

much appreciated Buser…anyone have a hot lead on someone’s potential to put up big point totals on fri, sat, sun?

        • mbuser says:

well it’d depend who is out there in your league but i just posted the weekend’s best matchups below

fri: NOR (@GSW), SAC (@PHO), PHO (SAC), SAS (@IND)
sat: DEN (LAC), TOR (@NYK), NYK (TOR)
sun: SAC (GSW), DAL (PHO), TOR (NYK), NYK (@TOR), OKC (IND), LAL (LAC), DEN (@MIN)

  32. esef_representative says:

Who would be the best players to stream for 3′s, stl’s, percentages, and assists? Im looking for players for friday, saturday and sunday. i was thinking morrow friday. dooling saturday. and Brandon rush sunday?

    • mbuser says:

well those are certainly pretty good options for what you are after, even without knowing who you are passing over. the ‘most favorable’ situations for those days:
fri: NOR (@GSW), SAC (@PHO), PHO (SAC), SAS (@IND)
sat: DEN (LAC), TOR (@NYK), NYK (TOR)
sun: SAC (GSW), DAL (PHO), TOR (NYK), NYK (@TOR), OKC (IND), LAL (LAC), DEN (@MIN)

The stars must have aligned for me last night!

    (pts-reb-ast-stl-blk)
    Nash: 25-1-17-3-0
    Sessions: 16-10-16-2-0
    Conley: 22-5-6-3-2
    Thompson: 14-19-1-2-2
    Randolph: 17-10-1-1-0
    Blatche: 11-9-2-2-1
    Howard: 30-9-1-3-1

My strongest fantasy day all season happens in the thick of the semi-finals. Sweet! I’ve stood pat on the majority of my roster in the weeks leading up to the playoffs outside of injuries and the likes. Then right in the middle of the bye-week I made over my team and put in as many hot hands as possible…

    Jarret Jack > Jason Thompson
    Kevin Garnett > Anthony Randolph
    Michael Beasley > Brandon Rush
    Larry Hughes > Andray Blatche
    Randy Foye > Troy Murphy

How about Kelenna Azubuike? Everytime he hits the wire I don’t think I have someone worth dropping for him but once he gets picked I’m ready to make a trade.

Also, what do you guys see Brandon Rush averaging here on out?
